Frances Morris, Director Tate Modern

2018 Mendel International Lecture

The Mendel International Lecture brings internationally recognized speakers to Remai Modern to share their ideas and perspectives. In June, we welcomed Frances Morris, director of Tate Modern, London. She spoke on collection development and devising a radical display strategy for the new Tate Modern.

About Frances Morris: Frances Morris joined Tate as a curator in 1987, serving in a variety of roles before being named director of Tate Modern in 2016. She has been instrumental in developing Tate’s international reach and its representation of women artists. She has curated landmark exhibitions, many of which were large-scale international collaborations, including three major retrospectives of women artists, including Louise Bourgeois (2007), Yayoi Kusama (2012), and Saskatchewan-born artist Agnes Martin (2015).
