Ryan Gander: My validation through my association

A publicly available Twitter feed from the perspective of Pablo Picasso’s chair, written by a ghostwriter employed to give the inanimate object a life.

Ryan Gander is considered one of the most prolific and thought-provoking artists working today. His conceptual practice is stimulated by questions, mystery, and the possibilities of everything. Humorous and poetic, his works often focus on the use of everyday objects, subverting their meaning in a thoughtful and playful manner.

In 2014, the Frederick Mulder Foundation in London donated 23 Pablo Picasso ceramics to Remai Modern, together with a chair from the Madoura pottery, the studio in Vallauris, France, where Picasso produced his best-known ceramics.

Ryan Gander (1976 Chester, UK) lives and works in London and Suffolk. Recent solo exhibitions of his work have been held at Museum Dhondt-Dhaenens, Belgium; Aspen Art Museum, USA; Contemporary Art Gallery, Vancouver; Australian Centre for Contemporary Art; Manchester Art Gallery, UK; Proyectos Monclova, Mexico; and TARO NASU, Japan. His work was featured in Performa 15, New York; dOCUMENTA (13), Kassel, Germany; and ILLUMInations, the 54th International Art Exhibition at the Venice Biennale.
