Picasso dedicated this portrait to his wife at the time, Jacqueline Rocque, with whom he had been married less than a year. The linogravure, painted in 1962 in Mougins, France stands for the Cubist representation of reality, the expressiveness of the face, the roundness and strength of strokes and the use of vibrant colors that become another main feature of the work.
