Core Function

This position is responsible for contributing to and enhancing Remai Modern’s fundraising program, including attracting and retaining members, developing strategies to steward and encourage existing members to move to higher, more engaged levels of membership and ensuring fulfilment of member benefits and donor recognition.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Oversees and manages all aspects of membership program including: recruitment and solicitation, renewal and retention, benefit fulfillment and data management.   
  • Coordinates and oversees the production and implementation of compelling membership appeals and related collateral materials. 
  • Coordinates and manages communication with members and donor groups. 
  • Coordinates the production and delivery of membership acknowledgements and recognition, including membership cards, welcome packages, gift memberships and replacement cards etc.
  • Conducts outreach with members to build rapport, foster engagement and steward members and donors. 
  • Oversees accuracy of membership data information and maintenance of relevant records that include tracking of member information and program benefits. 
  • Conducts ongoing research to identify and segment membership prospects. 
  • Communicates and collaborates with staff to coordinate, develop, implement and evaluate membership sales, benefits, activities and events.  
  • Provides customer service to members as required. 
  • Serves as the membership program lead and the museum’s agent with respect to services, benefits and inquiries related to wide variety of member programs. 
  • Produces membership program reports and analyses and makes recommendations regarding the continual improvement of the membership experience. 
  • Performs general administrative duties and provides support to the development team.
  • Assist to resolve data management system challenges and build upon identified opportunities.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned


  • University degree in arts, business or related field. 
  • Three years’ related experience coordinating a membership program, preferably in the area of arts and culture. 
  • An equivalent combination of experience and education may be considered. 
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals and principles of fundraising. 
  • Knowledge of membership data management systems (e.g. Raiser’s Edge, Centaman, Salesforce)
  • Knowledge of public sector and non-profit organizational operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to engage and converse with individuals and groups representing diverse demographics and backgrounds. 
  • Demonstrated ability to provide professional, courteous customer service. 
  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective relationships 
  • Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, discretion, and confidentiality 
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. 
  • Demonstrated organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient skill in the use of a computer with Microsoft Office software, including mail merge functions, and membership database software.
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills related to computerized systems.
