Hands On

Screening and conversation with Marites Carino

SaskTel Theatre

In this world of instant communication, our first contact with people is often virtual, either through the Internet, telephone, texts or e-mail. All day we swipe screens, type on keyboards and punch buttons. Our overuse of electronics reduces daily opportunity for human contact, and diminishes our ability to be present. Have technology and touch screens replaced human touch?

Hands On captures candid, real-time encounters between two strangers who get to know each other solely through touch. This intimate experimental documentary takes society’s accepted form of first contact between strangers, the handshake, and twists it into an unexpected tactile choreography.
