La Piscine
This July, Cinema at the Museum presents a series of films that depict the summertime, along with all of its complexities. From celebration to independence, romance, and tensions rising with the heat, these films present the heightened intensity of summer from various decades and perspectives that highlight its potential for freedom, self-exploration, and passion.
Set in a magnificent villa near a sun-drenched St. Tropez, lovers Jean-Paul and Marianne are spending a happy, lazy summer holiday together. Their only concern is to gratify their mutual passion. Things change the day Marianne invites her former lover and his beautiful daughter to spend a few days with them. Soon, uneasiness and tension begin to develop between the four, which soon escalates in a dangerous love-game.
