Collaborative Print Workshop Tour with Jillian Ross
In a collaborative print workshop, artists work with printers to develop an artistic idea into a printed edition. The technical expertise provided by the printers gives artists an opportunity to explore and expand their usual working practices without being distracted by the complexities of printmaking. Artist William Kentridge is currently working on a new theatrical project The Great Yes, The Great No, which traces a journey from Marseilles to Martinique. Since February 2023, Kentridge and Saskatoon-based printer Jillian Ross have been developing a new set of large-scale prints that share visual aspects from this theatrical project which finds its roots in the landscapes of Kentridge’s garden in Johannesburg.
Join Ross as she opens the doors to the print workshop, providing insight into the collaborative aspects of this project which has involved an intercontinental team of printers from the University of Alberta, Cone Editions (Vermont), and David Krut Workshop (Johannesburg).
