Every May, Just Like the Last
A short animated film by Sonia Neputeva. This May, Sonia returns to her hometown in Russia to confront the death of her best friend, her past, and a country where her grief is only a symptom of a larger tragedy. This Community Screening of Every May, Just Like the Last is presented in partnership with the University of Saskatchewan. A post-film discussion with director Sonia Neputeva will take place following the screening!

Sonia Neputeva is a Russian animator, filmmaker, and visual artist based in Canada. Drawing on personal and collective memory, her work traverses shifting landscapes of time, place, and perception. Her films and artworks have been presented internationally in Serbia, Mexico, and Canada.
