Low-Sensory WEGO 2025

Monday, August 25, 1–6 PM

Free event | RSVP required

WEGO is a busy event with lots going on. Recognizing that some children and parents prefer a low-sensory environment, we are pleased to offer a WEGO experience tailored to their needs. This event is free, but registration is required.

This event is free to attend, but registration is required. Space is limited. We kindly ask guests to reserve only the number of tickets they need so we can welcome as many guests as possible.

What to Expect

Low Sensory WEGO will feature adapted programming and a welcoming atmosphere throughout the museum. Visitors can engage with hands-on activities from community partners in a setting designed to reduce sensory input and crowding.

What to Expect
Guests will enjoy hands-on creative activities in a welcoming space, including:

  • Ludoland Giant Games (Learning Studio)
  • Mr. Eric Live Music – 2:00 PM & 4:00 PM (Riverview Room)
  • Joann Morrisseau Dickson – Birch Bark Biting (Gallery Lounge)
  • Dance performances – Dance Saskatchewan Inc. – 1:15 PM & 3:15 PM (Riverview Room)

All galleries remain open for quiet exploration. Sensory supports (headphones, fidgets) are welcome, and a designated quiet space is available upon request.

OUTSaskatoon: Join OUTSaskatoon for a fun and creative button-making activity! Design your own wearable button to show your pride, your style, or your imagination!

OUTSaskatoon is a 2SLGBTQ+ community centre and service provider. We believe in a bolder, braver, and safer future for all. We strive towards this by providing support services, youth housing, and education through a harm reduction, culturally informed, equity-seeking, and community-based approach.

Western Development Museum: We all love to play! How did children over 100 years ago play? Give it a try. The WDM Saskatoon will be bringing examples of games and toys that were popular in the early 1900s for you to get hands-on with.

Wonderhub: Join Wonderhub for a robotic adventure activity station. Have fun learning beginner coding concepts with our cute little robots. The station will also have hands on activities that let you explore the art of construction using unique open ended floor toys. What will you build today?

Meewasin Valley Authority: Meewasin will have an exciting postcard scavenger hunt, fun colouring sheets and watercolours, themed around nature in Meewasin Valley. Create lasting memories while having fun with the whole family!

Saskatoon Public Library: Saskatoon Public Library offers vibrant and welcoming community spaces and digital environments that provide Saskatoon residents of all ages and ability levels access to a range of programs, services, collections and online resources. At Low-Sensory WEGO, we will offer a pop-up library experience so that kids and families can explore literacy in fun, creative ways.

Children’s Festival of Saskatchewan: Join Rockford and friends for a felt puppet creation station and a chance to let your puppets star in their very own puppet show at our portable puppet theatre! Get creative and come play!

Dance Saskatchewan: In partnership with Dance Saskatchewan (DSI), Remai Modern co-hosts the month-long Dance Artist-in-Residence Program. See new work by Justin Hauber, Johanna Bundon, Marichka Matyushenko, Tatum Wildeman, and Scott O’Byrne.

Joann Morrisseau Dickson 1

Joann Morrisseau Dickson Birch Bark Biting

Joann Morrisseau Dickson is a Métis woman born at Boggy Creek, Manitoba during the Winter Solstice, under the Earth Renewal moon in a mud and log house. Her parents are Joseph Brazeau and Laurette CHICK Morrisseau. Being born on the land has given her a deep-rooted connection with the elements that Mother Earth has to offer. The birch tree is her medicine plant. Humbled and grateful, Joann says “The Earth is my government, she provides me with what I need.  We owe it to her to keep her loved and protected at all times. She feeds my spirit energy, so that I can nourish my gifts to share with you. Thank you Mother Earth and Grandfather Sky.”
