Core Function

Under the supervision of the Interpretive Planner & Programs Manager, the Program Coordinator connects people with art, culture and ideas through programs for reflection, dialogue, and hands-on learning.

Typical Duties:

1. Develops and supervises intergenerational programs and youth programs, including school programs and the guided tour program, exhibition-based public programs and special projects, and community partnership programs.

2. Develops and monitors learning objectives and outcomes for programs in consultation with the Interpretive Planner & Programs Manager.

3. Supervises assigned staff, assists with hiring, establishes work assignments and assesses staffing needs. Assists with staff development, performance management and disciplinary action.

4. Identifies and implements measures for accessibility in programming for visitors and program participants.

5. Assists with developing and monitoring budget and work plans.

6. Develops and delivers program evaluation. Maintains evaluation statistics and prepares reports.

7. Supervises purchasing and maintenance of studio supplies, and the maintenance of the studio.

8. Assists with identifying target markets, developing marketing strategies, and preparation of marketing support materials.

9. Produces reports and assists with applications for grants and funding. Participates in the identification of potential funding sources for programs and initiatives.

10. Maintains ongoing familiarity with best practices and innovation in museum programming and education.

11. Supports and promotes the health and safety of employees in accordance with the Saskatchewan Employment Act, Saskatchewan Health Regulations and Standards, Occupational Health & Safety Regulations and Remai Modern’s administrative Occupational Health & Safety policies and departmental procedures. Maintains and monitors programs which impact employee and public health and safety.

12. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:

· Thorough knowledge of art history, art education and studio art practices.

· Thorough knowledge of current practices in contemporary art and museum education.

· Demonstrated skill in originating innovative programming and ability to analyze and interpret exhibition content and evaluative data.

· Demonstrated ability to express challenging ideas and concepts effectively orally and in writing. Ability to prepare and present specialized reports and educational materials.

· Demonstrated creative and problem-solving skills.

· Demonstrated time management skills with the ability to organize work, set priorities, meet critical deadlines, follow up on assignments and work effectively on several projects concurrently with a minimum of supervision.

· Demonstrated ability to supervise, provide day-to-day feedback to assigned staff, and to maintain positive working relationships.

· Responsive to diverse communities, including the ability to identify and understand intersecting issues related to age, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, race, ethnicity, immigration status, religion, and Indigenous heritage.

· Ability to maintain a high level of professionalism, discretion and confidentiality.

· Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

· Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite, scheduling software and customer relationship management software.

Education, Training and Experience Requirements:

· Degree in a closely related field.

· Four years of related experience in museum education, staff supervision, and working with audiences of all ages.

· Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Security Requirements:

· Acceptable current Vulnerable Sector Search (VSS) upon offer of employment.
