Display Tactics
Display Tactics presents works by major figures in Canadian art, focusing on the period of the 1960s through the 1980s. Drawing on the permanent collection, the exhibition explores the topics, materials and strategies of artists pushing the boundaries of art. The selected works showcase a rich period of experimentation in artistic practices, including the politics of the body, cultural and economic inequalities, performative gestures, and tensions between high art and popular culture. The exhibition includes work by Joyce Weiland, General Idea, Bob Boyer, Michael Snow, among others, and addresses questions of display and representation.
