Remai Modern and Nutrien Children’s Festival of Saskatchewan join forces for an all-ages day of art, music and more

SASKATOON, CANADA — On August 29, families, children and people of all ages are invited to Remai Modern for WEGO, a one-day festival of art, music, dance and more. Presented in partnership with the Nutrien Children’s Festival of Saskatchewan, WEGO is a way to celebrate being together and to thank the community for its support over the last 18 months.
“We are grateful to our visitors for continuing to animate Remai Modern both in person and online over the last year and a half. WEGO is a celebration and a thank you. We invite people of all ages to this unique experience of Remai Modern and downtown Saskatoon,” said Aileen Burns and Johan Lundh, Remai Modern’s Co-Executive Director & CEOs. “We are excited to partner with the Children’s Festival, a staple event in Saskatoon, to present this fun, new festival.”
The event runs from 10 AM-4 PM both outside and inside Remai Modern, with activities expanding to nearby River Landing. Admission to WEGO is by donation. Performers include Splash ‘n’ Boots, the Creeland Dancers, Megan Nash, Ruploops and Kate Ryan. The site will also be animated by activities including a dance party presented by Girls Rock Camp and much more.
“The Nutrien Children’s Festival of Saskatchewan acknowledges that we work and play on Treaties 2, 4, 5, 6, 8 and 10 lands, which are the territories of the Nêhiyawak, Anihšināpēk, Dene, Dakota, Lakota, and Nakota nations as well as the traditional homeland of the Métis people,” said Darcie Young, general manager of the Children’s Festival. “ For the past 33 years, the Children’s Festival has offered artistic programming for children ages 2-12 that embraces all backgrounds, orientations and abilities through collective play, creation and education. We are thrilled to partner with Remai Modern for this one-day event that celebrates the resilience of families in Saskatoon and the surrounding area. We look forward to a full day of fun and friendship.”
